We were lucky enough to be sent this lovely storybook by it’s Author Sarah Hill. Sarah is a small animal vet who, since having her two daughters began writing the Whimsy Wood children’s series of which this is the 6th book. The Whimsy Wood series features the adventures of Posie the Pixie who lives in a copper kettle house in Whimsy Wood, surrounded by her many friends.

In this new adventure, Posie Pixie and friends head off for to enjoy a Winter walk in the woods but outside the snow is falling thick and fast and they are forced to go back indoors and find ways to entertain themselves. Feeling fed up, Posie Pixie is son cheered up by her friend’s clever ideas from a game of hide and seek to some toasted marshmallows and warming ‘acorn cups of sweet Snowberry juice’! They have been so busy having fun that they have forgotten all about the snowstorm, which has now stopped…do they finally get to enjoy the snow? You’ll just have to read the book to find out 😉

This is a lovely story, complimented by beautiful illustrations. My favourite character has to be super cute ‘Wibble the Woodlouse’ and Bundle Number One (aged 4) especially liked the part where Posie Pixie and her Vole friends slide down the spout of her copper kettle! There is an added extra included in this book too at the back there is an activity to share, in this case a map of Whimsy Wood for the child to fill in after hearing the story. This was a lovely addition, as are the free downloadable colouring sheets available at www.whimsy-wood.com

We would definitely recommend the Whimsy Wood series as a charming addition to any child’s book collection. There is currently an offer on the first 5 books in the series here

We were kindly sent this book free of charge in return for our review. All opinions are our own.
